British Council
The British Council is the UK's international organisation for cultural relations and educational opportunities and builds lasting relationships between the UK and other countries. It is an integral part of our diplomatic work and reaches audiences and areas we and other government departments cannot.
The British Council's work is divided into three key programme areas:
- Intercultural dialogue: successful intercultural dialogue depends on trust: people listening to others from a variety of cultures to explore diverse viewpoints and values.
- Climate change: the British Council is working to strengthen networks and relationships among decision makers, influencers and future leaders worldwide to tackle climate change.
- Supporting the UK's creative and knowledge economy: the British Council champions and develops entrepreneurship in the global creative economy.
Finally, what do you know about the British Council's work here in Afghanistan ? Have you heard of Connecting Classrooms? This innovative, highly successful programme links 40 schools in the UK with 20 schools in Afghanistan , giving students the opportunity to learn in a variety of ways about different cultures and values.
